European Internal Markets Electricity (IEM) Directive 2019/944/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council (and its predecessors 1996/92/EC, 2003/54/EC and 2009/72/EC) liberalises the electricity market across the member states of the EU, creating a framework for a common market for electricity.
Public support
Certificates can be used to support feed-in or purchase obligations, and portfolio standards or quotas.
