AIB at the EUSEW

Like previous years, the AIB will play an active part during the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), the biggest event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe, organised as a series of online sessions.

This year AIB is involved in the organisation of two events within the Extended Programme:

Together with the Florence School of Regulation, the Council of Energy Regulators (CEER), the Australian regulator and Issuing Body E-Control, Greenfact and SIA Consulting, AIB will organise a session on the needs of gas consumers now that the gas certificate system is being designed and how they can influence the energy transition through their consumption choices. To this end, the session will assemble a wide range of perspectives and areas of expertise and many relevant stakeholders regarding the evolving Guarantees of Origin (GOs) for renewable gas including hydrogen.
The online session is scheduled on 11 October 13:30 to 15:00 CET.

Additionally, the AIB will also organise a session together with Eurelectric, RECS International, RE-Source Platform, EIT InnoEnergy titled “Moving towards 24/7 renewable energy with time-based certificates”. Indeed, existing energy attribute tracking systems are challenged to become more temporally granular to drive more renewables. The challenge is how to deliver renewables 24/7, not just when the wind is blowing and the sun is shining.
This session will take place on 12 October from 16:30 to 18:00 CET.

About EUSEW

The EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is a month-long series of activities to build a secure energy future for Europe. It brings together public authorities, private companies, NGOs and consumers to promote initiatives to save energy and move towards renewables for clean, secure and efficient power.
Launched in 2006 by the European Commission, EUSEW was organised by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) until 31 March 2021, and as of 1 April 2021 is organised by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), in close cooperation with the Directorate-General for Energy.
