EUSEW session AIB+REScoop
AIB and REScoop.eu joint session during the European Sustainable Energy Week
"Involving consumers in the energy transition -
Accountability, CSR and carbon accounting?"
There is a strong and sustainable trend towards a massive voluntary consumption of green electricity in many countries in Europe (as carbon footprint and sustainable development policies are gaining weight in big companies and the public sector). And this is good news. No better promotion for renewable energy, than people using it and proudly communicating about it.
How do we make sure that legislation strengthens this trend? Could the renewable energy directive be a step towards further harmonization? The Commission's Clean Energy Package claims to bring new rules for a consumer-centred clean energy transition.
During the session we will focus on new elements in the proposal (GOs to be used for disclosure mandatorily, the situation of GOs for supported electricity, lifespan of GOs…). Some proposals are promising, others are contested among stakeholders.
It took place in Brussels, Belgium on 22 June 2017.
The presentations are available as downloads on the website (see 'Additional Documents' below).
