Electricity Scheme Group
The Electricity Scheme Group is responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the regulations surrounding the electricity-specific part of the European Energy Certificate System (the EECS Rules). Martina Gabriel of OTE a.s., is the chair.
The ESG is also responsible for promoting and protecting the interests of the AIB and its members in the ongoing development of electricity-related aspects of the CEN/CENELEC standard EN16325.
In its most recent cycle, the ESG strengthened its governance structure, oversaw the approval of audits and updated Domain Protocols for multiple member registries, and endorsed key rule changes for Electricity and HubCom v8.1. It also advanced cross-scheme and multi-carrier developments, supporting protocols that extend to the gas domain.
A particular focus has been placed on the evolution of electricity Guarantees of Origin, including rules on aggregating small production devices and issuing GOs for storage.
The ESG draws on member experience and best practices to inform EECS rules updates in line with the CEN standard.
